OracleContractors.com Launches E-Business Suite Technical and Functional Q & A Forum
I just received an e-mail from Jason Howlett of OracleContractors.com informing me that today they have launched an E-Business Suite Technical and Functional Q & A Forum.
An excerpt of the mail states:
We are pleased to announce the launch today of the OracleContractors.com E-Business Suite Technical and Functional Forums.
The OracleContractors.com E-Business Suite Forum is a free of charge web support service created by and available to Oracle Apps Contractors that won’t clog your inbox!
With an intended global contribution it has been created to encourage collaboration between Contractors to offer a way to access and leverage Q & A support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
It is hoped that it will be a gateway to what we believe to be the largest and most powerful global Oracle E Business Suite knowledgebase - “The Contractors”.
The Following Tracks have been created:
- Oracle Apps Database Administration
- Oracle Apps Project Management
- Oracle Business Intelligence
- Oracle CRM
- Oracle Development Subjects
- Oracle Financials
- Oracle Fusion
- Oracle HRMS
- Oracle Manufacturing
- Oracle OA Framework & XML Publisher
- Oracle Order Management
- Oracle Process Management
- Oracle Product Lifecycle Management
- Oracle Projects Suite
- Oracle Supply Chain
- Oracle Training Topics
Their blog has some very good contributions to date so I’m sure the forum will prove to be a very useful information source for anyone interested in Oracle technical and functional questions and answers. When I first started implementing Oracle, there were very few decent forums around, now there’s an abundance of forums one can use to post questions and review answers on - see this listing of other Oracle Applications and E-Business Suite Forums and if you know of any not on the list, then add your comments and I’ll be sure to include them.

Oracle bid for SAP and Business Objects?
Feed surfing the other night, I came across a rumour indicating that Oracle could potentially take over SAP in this article - Oracle Bid Rumour boosts SAP shares. This would certainly turn Project Fusion in to Confusion. Personally I don’t see how this would get passed the monopolies and merger’s commissions in the various countries affected and I think it’s more likely that Microsoft will take over SAP, although Jeff Nolan has some thoughts to the contrary. Whatever the case, its looking more likely that Oracle will make a move to purchase another BI company as indicated in this article - Oracle Rumoured to be eyeing Business Objects. Great time to be an Oracle Consultant!!
I’m trying to get the polling module working again so cast your vote and let me know if you experience any problems.

Kudos: OracleAppsBlog Recognized as Top Oracle Blog Site by WhatIS.com
Posted By: Michael Siebert
OracleAppsBlog.com was recently recognized by WhatIs.com as a “must read” blog for information technology topics covering Oracle.
We are pleased to announce that OracleAppsBlog has recently been recognized as a top blog site for Oracle technology by WhatIs.com. Specifically, we’ve been deemed a “Favorite Technology Blog” under the Oracle category. Three other blog sites were also recognized for their contributioins to the Oracle community:
Lewis Cunningham - covers a variety of Oracle technology, especially databases and development;
Mark Rittman - a must read site for all things related to Oracle and Business Intelligence; and
Oracle’s Blogging Network - basically, every executive, developer, or product manager blogger who works for Oracle. But if I had to place my vote for the most outstanding blog that falls under the Oracle corporate umbrella, it would undoubtedly go to Steven Chan’s blog on Oracle Applications Technology.
Of course, we have our bloggers, readers and over 3,500 forum members from all over the globe to thank for their contributions to the site and their support. Being recognized as a top site is certainly an honor, and is also a testament to the Oracle applications community and its ability to support one another through blogs and forums. Keep up the good work!

Oracle EBS Release 11.5.10.2 Vision Instance
I noticed that Solution Beacon now has a Vision Instance of the latest release before R12, namely 11.5.10.2
You can now access any of these three Vision Instances:
Release 11.5.10.2 (a510vis5)
(11.5.10.2 Installation from Media Pack/9.2.0.7. ATG RUP#3 applied. Family Pack applied current except for HR and BIS)
Output listing from patchsets.sh for 11.5.10.2 from 10/15/2006
Release 11.5.10 (a510vis1)
(11.5.10.0 Installation from Media Pack/9.2.0.5. No ATG RUPs applied. No additional Consolidated Updates or Family Pack patches applied)
Output listing from patchsets.sh for 11.5.10.0 from 3/27/06
Release 11.5.9 (a159vis2)
(11.5.9.0 Installation from Media Pack/9.2.0.3. No ATG RUPs applied. No additional Consolidated Updates or Family Pack patches applied)
Output listing from patchsets.sh for 11.5.9 from 3/27/06
Although these environments are all publicly accessible I noticed that when registering for the 11.5.10.2 instance I had to supply them with a CSI (Customer Support Identifier). According to the registration form:-
*NEW - 12/21/2006 - In order for Solution Beacon to be able to continue to provide Vision environments for public use, Oracle now requires us to ask for a Customer Support Identifier (CSI) number which can be obtained through Oracle Support.
Hopefully they’ll have an R12 Vision Instance ready to look at shortly!!
