Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 - Vision Instance

This post contains details of a publicly accessible Oracle Application 11.5.10 Vision instance.

When I met Karen Brownfield at an Atlanta Oracle User Group  meeting two weeks ago she mentioned that Solution Beacon  (who currently host a freely accessible 11.5.8 and 11.5.9 Vision Instance) would shortly be hosting a publicly accessible 11.5.10 instance. I noticed over the weekend that this instance is now available. I think providing this type of facility for public access is extremely cool. All you have to do is fill out the free registration and you are allocated a user name and password.

I’ve noticed there’s quite a few new modules and a slightly new look and I hope to be writing on these over the next couple of months. You can access this instance here and you will need to run through the installation of the new version of Jinitiator ( I would advise you to de-install any existing Jinitiator versions you have. I performed the install on my new IBM X40 laptop (which came with my new job) and since there were no prior versions of Jinitiator I haven’t run into any issues. Also remember that if you have any pop up blocking software installed, you should allow pop ups for the Vision Instance URL as the Jinitiator software install will not start with popup blocking on the URL.

Well done to Solution Beacon for providing this instance and I hope readers enjoy accessing this system and taking a look at what’s new.

ExpressionEngine - Upgrade to Version 1.2

My site has been up and down for the last couple of days due to a technical problem which I’m still in the process of resolving. I took the opportunity to upgrade to version 1.2 of Expression Engine which has recently been released - this post contains details of what’s in the new version and an analysis of the blogs recent performance.

Despite my lack of attention to the blog in the last 2 months I still seem to be getting fairly good traffic and the membership is growing. When I last reported on blog performance after my upgrade to EE v1.1 on the 23rd of August, I had 159 members. Since then the membership has grown to 321 members. My web stats for the month of November 2004 were as follows: -

  • No. of Unique Visitors - 2,071
  • Total No. of Visits - 7,381
  • Page Views - 100,143
  • Hits - 114,388

According to the Expression Engine site the main improvement between release 1.1 and 1.2 is the photo gallery which enables users to organise and display their digital photos on the web. To see a detailed listing of what’s in the new version check out the change log.
