I am interested in setting up discoverer locally to learn it. What products do I need to download from Oracle to make this work? I am running 9i enterprise. Does this require Oracle Application Server, or would the BI Enterprise (Stand Alone) be all I need. I’m just looking for the quickest way to get started with the product for some self-paced training.

I would think you should be able to run the stand alone version against the database without needing the application server.

Also, check Oracle Technical Network (otn.oracle.com) for self based tutorials on Discoverer and other tools.  Specifically look for the OBE (Oracle By Example) tutorials as they usually do a good job of documenting what software and system requirements for doing the tutorial.
