Yes, SmartDB can be used for legacy data migrations. In fact, prior to Y2K (that seems a long time ago) hundreds of companies used SmartDB to migrate their legacy data to Oracle. Today’s “legacy” systems are older versions of Oracle, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards etc. and SmartDB is still a best-of-breed tool for doing data migrations to 11i.

The pre-built Adapters available from SmartDB cover most master data entities (e.g. items, customers) as well as transactional data entities (e.g. gl journals, ap invoices, etc.). These adapters handle all necessary transformations and validations of the data and deliver quality data to Oracle via supported interfaces (Open Interface Tables and APIs). Detailed logfiles are created to identiy and correct bad and discarded source data.

Is this tool good for loading GL segment values :  that is we want to load only the “Parent Values” into the Natural Account segment, if not, is there any other tool that we can use and accomplish this task easily,
