Need help on below topic

Can not manage the Concurrent Managers well. Everything still runs in the standard manager. System gets into trouble if planning kicks off and grabs all processes and then the system will hang.

Transaction processors sometimes are not scheduled – for various - reasons and sometimes they are fine. The schedule intervals on transaction processors are not coordinated. Issue from store process prior to the receiving transactions leaving negative value transactions that error. Sometimes they can not see material from WIP that is put away and ready to ship, for hours. All transaction timing from what can be understood.

The System Administration Guide will help you understand how the concurrent manager manages jobs and the queues they are assigned to.  In a nutshell, you will have to create new manager queues for your planning and other jobs where you don’t want conflicts in the standard or other queues.  You will then define restrictions to keep jobs constrained to particular queues.

Tuning the concurrent managers is an ongoing process.  You will want to retain a decent amount of job history so you can do some analysis on requests at key times - month end, overnight processing, etc.  There are third party tools (Quest Spotlight), Oracle tools (Applications Performance Pack, Oracle Applications Manager, 10g Grid Control with the apps pack), and even sql scripts that can help you do the analysis to determine which jobs are running frequently, which have the longest duration, and which are constraining or conflicting with others.

Out of the box, the CM queues are fairly unrestricted as Oracle has no knowledge on how you will use the system.  It is up to your system administrator to monitor and tune the queues in much the same way a DBA monitors and tunes the database.

Sekhar,

Check out http://www.appsdba.com for additional tips and scripts for managing CM queues and jobs.  This, in additon to the system administration guide, will get you started.  Also check OAUG and other user group conference paper archives - this is a topic that has been covered many times.
