AOL is also the shortname for the System Administration module of Oracle which is where you control such things as users, menus, reports, customisations, workflow administration etc.

The importance of AOL helps in building oracle applications and extensions to oracle applications

AOL is a collection of pre-built application components and facilities and it
consists of forms,
subroutines,
concurrent programs and reports,
database tables and objects,
messages,
menus,
responsibilites,
flexfiled definitions,
various guides and library functions.

Hope this will help you to understand the basic of AOL.

Thanks

With warm regards
